“Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”
— Psalm 150:6, KJV
This scripture invites everything with breath to praise the Lord. It does not ask whether every problem is solved or every expectation fulfilled. If you are still breathing, still living, you have a reason to thank God! The breath in your lungs is a daily gift from the One who has graciously sustained you into November.
Beloved, it takes a grateful heart to recognize the blessings we can easily overlook. Before you count what is still missing, remember the mercies you are already living in! Many of us can look back on our lives and remember dangers we escaped, health challenges we survived, and difficult seasons through which God’s grace sustained us. Many researchers have also linked gratitude with more positive thoughts before bedtime and better sleep quality.
The psalmist gives us a beautiful example of a lifelong commitment to praise:
“While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.”— Psalm 146:2, KJV
What a beautiful declaration! As long as I have life, I will give God praise. May this become our daily attitude—a heart that remembers His goodness through every season. Even while we wait for answers, there is mercy to acknowledge and grace to appreciate.
The truth is that gratitude shifts our focus from what is missing to what God has already done. It nurtures joy, peace, and renewed strength, while ingratitude can close our hearts and blind us to His daily mercies. A thankful heart keeps us mindful of God’s presence and ready to recognize His blessings.
As we embrace this month of thanksgiving, let every breath remind you that you are alive for a purpose—and that is reason enough to thank and praise God! Let that gratitude also flow through open hands toward others. The life He sustains in you can bring encouragement, kindness, and hope to someone else.
Have a grateful, blessed day! May you and your family be encouraged to appreciate the gift of life and His daily mercies, keep praise on your lips, and share His love in simple, meaningful ways. Keep breathing thanks, speaking faith in spite of the challenges, and living with joy—knowing each new day is another opportunity to honor the Giver and Sustainer of life. Shalom! 🙏🏾🙌🏾
