OCTOBER 18 – DEVOTIONAL

FROM SUNRISE TO SUNSET—LET HIS NAME BE PRAISED!

“Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’s name is to be praised.”
Psalm 113:2–3 KJV

Every morning we open our eyes to life is a fresh invitation to praise the Lord! Before we reach for our phones or begin counting our concerns, let thanksgiving rise from our hearts: “Thank You, Father, for the gift of another day!”

And when the day is done, as we lay our heads down to sleep, may our last words be words of gratitude: “Lord, thank You for carrying me through. Into Your loving hands, I entrust my rest.”

From our waking moments to our peaceful rest, from sunrise to sunset, His name is worthy to be praised!

Beloved, the God whose glory fills the heavens is also mindful of you. He sees you on your highest mountain and meets you in your lowest valley. No burden is hidden from His sight, and no whispered prayer escapes His hearing.

Do not let what is troubling you overshadow what God has done for you. You are still here! His mercy has kept you, His grace has sustained you, and His love continues to surround you. Every breath is a gift; let it become an offering of praise!

Praise Him when answers come, and praise Him while you wait. Praise Him in moments of celebration, and through tears when words are few. Our circumstances may change, but His goodness remains. The rising sun announces His faithfulness; the setting sun reminds us that He has carried us through another day.

🎶 From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, may Your name be praised, O Lord! As long as we live, Your name alone shall forever be praised!
While we have breath, we have a reason to praise. Blessed be the name of the Lord—now and forevermore!

Have a joyful, grateful, and praise-filled Sunday! May you and your family awaken with gratitude, walk through each day in joy and peace, and lie down in restful trust. May praise fill your home and thanksgiving strengthen your hearts. In Jesus’ name, Amen & Shalom!

Bible Reading Summary

Jeremiah 31:27–32:44
God promises to restore Israel and Judah, bringing new growth and blessing to their land. He also promises a new covenant in which His law will be written on His people’s hearts, and their sins will be forgiven. Although Jerusalem faces destruction, Jeremiah buys a field as an act of faith, showing that God will restore the land and bring hope for the future.
Key Themes: Restoration, God’s promises, the new covenant, forgiveness, faith, obedience, and hope.

1 Timothy 3:1–16
Paul explains the qualities required of church leaders, including self-control, faithfulness, gentleness, and good character. Leaders must manage their households well and have a good reputation. Deacons must also be trustworthy and sincere. Paul reminds Timothy that God’s church is the foundation of truth and points to the greatness of Christ, who came into the world to bring salvation.
Key Themes: Godly leadership, integrity, self-control, faithfulness, responsibility, the church, truth, and Christ’s greatness.

Psalm 88:1–18
The psalmist cries out to God from a place of deep sorrow, loneliness, and suffering. He feels overwhelmed and abandoned, yet he continues to pray to the Lord day and night. Unlike many other psalms, this one ends without an obvious resolution, reminding us that we can bring our deepest pain honestly before God, even when relief seems far away.
Key Themes: Suffering, honest prayer, loneliness, perseverance, emotional pain, and crying out to God.

Proverbs 25:20–22
These verses teach us to respond wisely to people’s emotions and needs. Singing cheerful songs to someone who is grieving can make their pain worse. Instead, we should show understanding and compassion. We are also instructed to feed our hungry enemies and give them water when they are thirsty, choosing kindness over revenge and allowing God to handle justice.
Key Themes: Compassion, sensitivity, kindness, loving our enemies, forgiveness, and overcoming evil with good.

Final Reflection
Today’s passages remind us that God offers hope even in seasons of uncertainty and pain. Jeremiah shows us that God’s promises remain trustworthy, even when circumstances look hopeless. Timothy teaches us to value godly character and integrity, while Psalm 88 reminds us that we can honestly bring our deepest struggles to God. Proverbs challenges us to respond to others with compassion, even when they have wronged us.
May we trust God’s promises, remain faithful in our responsibilities, bring our pain honestly before Him, and choose kindness even when it is difficult.
