JUNE 14 – DEVOTIONAL

Gratitude for the Journey of Faith, Goodness, and Mercy

“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” — Psalm 118:29 (KJV)

This scripture is a beautiful reminder that God’s goodness and mercy sustain us through every season of life. The psalmist had faced battles, opposition, and challenges, yet he ended with thanksgiving because he recognized that God had been faithful every step of the way.

Beloved, as we reflect on our own journey of faith, we can testify that the road has not always been easy. There have been seasons of waiting, uncertainty, and trials. Yet through it all, God has remained faithful. His goodness has provided for us, and His mercy has carried us when we were weak.

Gratitude is more than thanking God for blessings received; it is recognizing His unchanging character. Even when circumstances are difficult, we can trust that God is good and His mercy never fails. Looking back, we can see His hand guiding, protecting, and strengthening us along the way.

Today, take a moment to thank God for your journey. Every victory, every lesson, and every testimony is evidence of His goodness and mercy. Let your heart be filled with praise as you declare:
“O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever!”

Have a thankful and praise-filled Sunday! May you and your family continue to experience God’s goodness, faithfulness, and abundant mercy.Shalom!🙏

Bible Reading Summary

📖 1 Kings 12:20–13:34 — The Danger of Compromise and the Call to Obedience
After the kingdom is divided, Jeroboam becomes king over Israel. Rather than trusting God to establish his reign, he creates golden calves and alternative places of worship to prevent the people from returning to Jerusalem. His actions lead the nation into idolatry. God sends a prophet to warn him, but Jeroboam refuses to repent. The account also records the tragic consequences of a prophet who disobeys God’s specific instructions, reminding us that God’s commands are not to be taken lightly.
Key Theme: Trusting God requires obedience. Compromise may seem convenient, but it always leads us away from God’s best.

📖 Acts 9:26–43 — The Power of a Changed Life
When Saul arrives in Jerusalem, the believers are afraid of him because of his former persecution of Christians. Barnabas courageously testifies about Saul’s genuine conversion, helping the church receive him. Meanwhile, Peter ministers with great power, healing Aeneas and raising Tabitha (Dorcas) from the dead. Through these miracles, many people place their faith in Christ.
Key Theme: God can transform any life and use it powerfully for His kingdom. No one is beyond the reach of His grace.

📖 Psalm 132:1–18 — A Passion for God’s Presence
This psalm reflects David’s deep desire to establish a dwelling place for the Lord. It celebrates God’s covenant faithfulness and His promise to bless His people. The psalm emphasizes the importance of seeking God’s presence and honoring Him above all else.
Key Theme: God’s presence is our greatest treasure, and those who seek Him wholeheartedly will experience His faithfulness and blessing.

📖 Proverbs 17:6 — The Blessing of Godly Generations
“Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.”
This proverb highlights the beauty of family and the value of a godly legacy. Grandchildren are a source of joy and honor, while children benefit from the guidance and example of faithful parents and grandparents.
Key Theme: A life devoted to God leaves a lasting legacy that blesses future generations.

Final Reflection:
Today’s readings remind us that obedience is better than compromise, God’s grace can completely transform lives, His presence is worth pursuing above all else, and a godly legacy is one of life’s greatest blessings. As we walk with the Lord, may we trust Him fully, follow Him faithfully, and live in such a way that future generations are strengthened by our example. Amen! 🙏🏾
