JULY 9 – DEVOTIONAL
The Power of Praise and Glory
“But I will sing about your strength. I will rejoice in your love every morning… I will sing praises to you, my source of strength. You, God, are my place of safety.”
— Psalm 59:16–17 (ERV)
David lived a lifestyle of praise, not because every day was easy or every battle had ended, but because he chose to behold the glory and faithfulness of God above every situation. Surrounded by enemies, betrayed by those who sought his life, and facing countless trials, David lifted his eyes above his problems and fixed his heart on the unchanging character of God.
Instead of allowing fear, complaints, or discouragement to rule him, David chose gratitude. He praised God’s strength above his weakness, God’s love above his loneliness, and God’s faithfulness above his fears. His praise became a weapon, his gratitude became his strength, and God’s presence became his refuge.
Beloved, like David, you don’t have to do anything wrong for opposition to arise. Yet, no battle is greater than our God. When we choose praise over panic and gratitude over grumbling, we make room for God’s peace, strength, and victory to fill our hearts.
Today, choose to glorify God above your circumstances. Let His greatness become bigger than your problems. As you praise Him, may His presence interrupt every negative situation and release His favor, protection, and peace over you and your family.

David cries out to God for deliverance from false accusations and unjust attacks. Rather than seeking revenge, he entrusts his situation to the Lord, knowing that God judges righteously and defends those who walk uprightly. His confidence in God’s justice leads him to end the psalm with praise.

📖 Proverbs 18:22 — Marriage: A Blessing and Favor from the Lord
This proverb reminds us that a godly marriage is one of God’s precious gifts. A spouse is not merely a companion but a blessing through whom God’s favor is experienced. It encourages us to value, honor, and pray for healthy, Christ-centered marriages.

Today’s readings remind us that God is faithful to every generation, present in every storm, just in every battle, and gracious in every blessing. As we continue our Month of Praise with Gratitude & Glory, may we trust God’s perfect plan for our lives, remain steadfast through every storm, confidently place every challenge into His hands, and honor Him in every relationship He has entrusted to us. May our hearts overflow with praise, knowing that the God who remembers every generation is faithfully watching over us today and always. Amen! 🙏🏾
