JULY 10 – DEVOTIONAL

The Power of Praise and Glory ☀️ Relationship Friday

2 Corinthians 3:18; Colossians 3:16–17

The scriptures reveals that true glory flows from a living relationship with Jesus. “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory…” 2 Corinthians 3:18. As we behold Him through His Word, worship, and praise, the Holy Spirit transforms us to become more like Christ in our relationship with others.

Beloved, the way we relate to others is often a reflection of who or what we are beholding. When Christ is the center of our lives, His love, grace, humility, and forgiveness begin to overflow through us. Joseph’s response and graciousness to his brothers is a beautiful example. Instead of living in betrayal and bitterness, he extended grace, forgiveness, and kindness because his heart was fixed on God’s greater purpose.

Colossians 3:16–17 reminds us to let the Word of Christ dwell richly in us, teaching and encouraging one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, giving thanks to God in all we do. A heart filled with God’s word is a heart filled with Jesus, and His glory. Their hearts are naturally filled with praise, encouragement, and gracious words toward others.

Today, choose to behold His glory beyond yourself. As we fix our eyes on Jesus, He will transforms our hearts and empowers us to build others up with praise, gratitude, and words of life.

Have a praiseful Relationship Friday and a blessed weekend! May you and your family be encouraged to speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, building each other up with gratitude and grace as you behold His glory beyond self and are transformed into His likeness. Shalom!🙏

Bible Reading Summary

📖 1 Chronicles 9:1–10:14 — Faithfulness to God Brings Life, While Disobedience Has Consequences
These chapters recount Israel’s return from exile, the restoration of those serving in the temple, and the tragic end of King Saul. Saul’s downfall was not due to a lack of opportunity but because he repeatedly disobeyed God and sought guidance from forbidden sources instead of the Lord. This passage reminds us that God desires faithful hearts that seek Him wholeheartedly and walk in obedience to His Word.
Key Theme: Faithfulness and obedience to God lead to His blessing, while disobedience brings unnecessary consequences.

📖 Acts 27:21–44 — God’s Promises Sustain Us Through Every Storm
In the midst of a violent storm, Paul courageously encourages everyone on board after receiving God’s assurance that every life would be spared. Although the ship was lost, God faithfully fulfilled His promise, bringing every person safely to shore. This passage reminds us that when God speaks, we can stand on His promises with confidence, even when circumstances seem impossible.
Key Theme: God is faithful to keep His promises and safely carries His people through every storm.

📖 Psalm 8:1–9 — Beholding the Glory and Majesty of God
David marvels at the greatness of God revealed through creation and reflects on the incredible privilege God has given humanity. Though we are small compared to the vastness of the heavens, God crowns us with honor and entrusts us with His creation. This psalm calls us to live with gratitude, humility, and continual praise as we behold the majesty of our Creator.
Key Theme: God’s glory fills the earth, and our proper response is worship, gratitude, and awe.

📖 Proverbs 18:23–24 — The Blessing of Genuine Friendship
These verses contrast relationships based on personal gain with those built on genuine love and faithfulness. They remind us that true friendship is not measured by quantity but by loyalty, and that there is no friend more faithful than the Lord, who remains closer than a brother.
Key Theme: God values faithful, loving relationships that reflect His steadfast love toward us.

Final Reflection:
Today’s readings remind us that God honors faithfulness, remains true to His promises through every storm, reveals His glory to those who seek Him, and blesses us with relationships that reflect His love. As we continue our Month of Praise with Gratitude & Glory, may we choose obedience over compromise, trust God in every circumstance, behold His glory through His Word and worship, and cultivate relationships marked by love, encouragement, and faithfulness. May our hearts continually overflow with praise as we fix our eyes on Jesus and are transformed from glory to glory. Amen! 🙏🏾
