SEPTEMBER 27 – DEVOTIONAL
GRATITUDE FOR DIVINE TRANSFORMATION: BEAUTY FOR ASHES! 🙌🏾 Returning to Give God Glory
“Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”
Psalm 107:31 KJV
On this last Sunday of our month of Divine Transformation—Beauty for Ashes, we return with grateful hearts! We thank God for who He is, for the gift of life, and for His grace that keeps us breathing, standing, and still believing.
God deserves our overflowing gratitude for the evidence of transformation we have experienced this month! Last Saturday, His glory was revealed in our midst beyond our expectations. He made a name for Himself, and we stand in awe of His goodness! For lives touched, hope renewed, and beauty rising from ashes—we give Him praise. We thank Him for the rebuilders, restorers, and repairers He is raising to strengthen families, restore communities, and make a difference for generations.
Beloved, before we ask for anything more, let us remember what God has already done! Like the one leper who returned to thank Jesus in Luke 17:15–19, may we never become so occupied with the blessing that we forget to honor the Giver.
Joshua looked back and declared:
“Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”
Joshua 21:45 NIV
We too have reasons to declare, “Great is Your faithfulness!” Even where we are still waiting, His sustaining grace is worthy of praise. As Psalm 115:1 reminds us, the glory belongs to His name because of His love and faithfulness.
Do not keep His goodness to yourself. Your testimony of “God kept me” may strengthen someone who feels like giving up. Sharing what He has done gives others courage to trust Him for their own beauty for ashes.
May you and your family be encouraged to give God glory and share His goodness and faithfulness. May your testimonies stir gratitude, renew hope, and encourage others to keep believing! Shalom!🙏🏽
Bible Reading Summary
Isaiah 51:1–53:12
God encourages His people to remember their history and trust His promises. He promises comfort, restoration, and salvation. The passage then describes the suffering Servant who would be rejected, wounded, and punished for the sins of others. Though He suffers innocently, His suffering brings healing and righteousness to many. This points clearly to Christ’s sacrificial work.

Ephesians 5:1–33
Paul calls believers to imitate God by walking in love and avoiding sinful lifestyles. Christians should live as children of light, making wise choices and being filled with the Spirit. He gives instructions for marriage, calling husbands to love sacrificially and wives to respect their husbands. Marriage is presented as a picture of Christ’s love for the Church.
Key Themes: Love, holiness, wisdom, spiritual living, marriage, sacrifice, submission, and Christ’s relationship with the Church.
Psalm 69:19–36
David describes the pain of being rejected, insulted, and surrounded by enemies. He asks God to see his suffering and bring justice. Despite his distress, David continues to look to God and promises to praise Him. The psalm ends with hope that God will save His people, rebuild what is broken, and bring joy to those who seek Him.
Key Themes: Suffering, rejection, prayer, justice, perseverance, praise, salvation, and hope.
Proverbs 24:7
This short verse teaches that wisdom is beyond the reach of a foolish person. A fool does not have the understanding needed to contribute wisely, especially in important matters. The verse highlights the value of seeking wisdom and developing understanding before speaking or making decisions.
Key Themes: Wisdom, understanding, discernment, humility, and wise decision-making.
Final Reflection
These passages point us toward God’s love, salvation, and transforming grace. Isaiah reveals the suffering Servant who bears the sins of many, while Ephesians calls us to live in love and holiness. Psalm 69 reminds us to trust God during rejection and pain, and Proverbs calls us to pursue wisdom.
