“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33 (NIV)
Jesus gave His disciples advance notice of what they would face, along with the assurance that would sustain them. Trouble would come, but peace would remain available in Him. Before they encountered the storm, He gave them His Word to anchor their hearts. His warning prepared them; His victory gave them reason to take courage!
Beloved, the challenges you face have not taken your Saviour by surprise. He knew there would be seasons of uncertainty, opposition, and waiting. Yet He declared, “In me you may have peace.” Your peace rests in the One who knows the end from the beginning and remains faithful through every chapter.
Everything God reveals in His Word—His promises, instructions, corrections, and warnings—serves His good purposes for us. Even when His Word challenges us, it leads us toward truth and the settled assurance of trusting Him. We do not have to understand every detail to trust the One who speaks. His Word is consistently reliable because His character is unchanging.
John 1:1,14 reveals Jesus as the eternal Word who became flesh. The Scriptures point us to Him—the Prince of Peace and the source of lasting joy. That is why our deepest confidence must rest in Him alone. Circumstances shift, feelings fluctuate, and people have limitations, but Jesus remains faithful. We can believe His Word because we can trust His heart.
In 2 Kings 4:1–7, a widow faced debt and the frightening possibility of losing her sons to a creditor. When Elisha, God’s servant, instructed her to borrow empty vessels and pour out her little oil, she had no visible evidence of enough provision to settle her debt. Yet she believed the instruction and acted. She gathered the vessels and began pouring—and the oil continued until every vessel was filled!
The provision enabled her to pay her debt and support her household. Though the passage does not describe her emotions, imagine the relief and renewed joy such provision would bring! She obeyed before she could see how the need would be met.
Beloved, as we prepare to bring this month to a close, you may not yet have seen the answers you were expecting, but you can take God at His Word. Bring Him your concerns, follow His leading, and let gratitude strengthen your trust while you wait. The One who warned you about trouble is also the One who declared His victory over it.
May you and your family be filled with joy and peace in believing. May His truth settle your hearts, His presence renew your strength, and His faithfulness give you courage for each step ahead. Take heart—Jesus has overcome! Shalom!🙏🏽
JEREMIAH 51:1–53
God declares that Babylon will be judged and destroyed because of its wickedness and violence against other nations, especially Israel. Although Babylon appeared powerful, it could not escape God’s judgment. God promises to defend His people and bring justice. His Word will stand, and no human power can overcome His authority. Key Themes: God’s justice, the consequences of wickedness, the limits of human power, and God’s faithfulness to His people.
TITUS 2:1–15
Paul instructs Titus to teach sound doctrine and encourage believers to live godly lives. Older and younger men and women, as well as servants, should demonstrate self-control, love, and integrity. God’s grace brings salvation and teaches us to reject ungodliness while living faithfully as we await Christ’s return. Key Themes: God’s grace, godly living, sound teaching, self-control, and the hope of Christ’s return.
PSALM 99:1–9
This psalm celebrates God as the holy and powerful King who rules over all nations. He loves justice and establishes what is right. The psalm recalls how Moses, Aaron, and Samuel called on Him, and He answered them. It encourages us to worship God because He is holy and forgiving.
Key Themes: God’s holiness, His sovereign rule, justice, answered prayer, forgiveness, and worship.
PROVERBS 26:17
This verse warns against interfering in other people’s quarrels. Getting involved in an argument that does not concern us can create unnecessary trouble and harm. Just as grabbing a stray dog by the ears is dangerous, meddling in other people’s disputes can bring painful consequences. Wisdom includes knowing when to stay out. Key Themes: Wisdom, self-control, avoiding unnecessary conflict, and respecting boundaries.
Final Reflection
These passages remind us that God is holy, just, and powerful, and His Word will always stand. His grace also teaches us to live with love, discipline, and integrity.
