OCTOBER 25 – DEVOTIONAL

GRATITUDE FOR ALL JOY & PEACE IN BELIEVING

Psalm 107:8–9 (KJV)
“Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”

These verses invite us to remember the goodness of the Lord—the One who meets our deepest longings and fills our hungry souls. Our thanksgiving flows from knowing who He is and trusting His faithfulness in every season.

Beloved, as we embrace the last Sunday of October, let us pause with grateful hearts. Whatever we are facing, wherever we find ourselves in life, as long as we have breath, we have a reason to praise the Lord! Life itself is a precious gift, and each new morning offers another opportunity to experience His mercy.

You may still be waiting for an answer, trusting for provision, or walking through a difficult season. You can bring those burdens to God with thanksgiving. Gratitude makes room for us to recognize His care even through our tears. We can say, “Lord, I do not understand everything, but I thank You that You are with me, and my hope remains in You.”

Because of what Jesus has done, weakness and lack do not have the final word. Through His grace, the weak can declare, “I am strong in the Lord,” and those experiencing poverty can rejoice in the riches of His love, salvation, and eternal inheritance. His strength sustains us, and our present circumstances cannot measure the fullness of what we have in Christ!

As we give thanks, we remember answered prayers, quiet strength, timely help, renewed hope, and grace that carried us when we felt we could not continue. Even while some prayers remain unanswered, His goodness gives us reason to keep believing. The God of hope can fill us with all joy and peace in believing, right where we are today (Romans 15:13).

Like the one healed leper who returned to thank Jesus, let us take time to acknowledge the Giver. Ten were cleansed, but only one came back, glorifying God and falling at Jesus’ feet in thanksgiving (Luke 17:15–19). Scripture does not tell us why the other nine did not return, but their absence challenges us: Have we become so occupied with receiving the blessing that we forget to thank the One who gave it? May we never take His mercy for granted or treat His goodness as something we are owed.

Have a grateful and praiseful Sunday!
May you and your family recognize God’s goodness in every season, draw strength from His love, and overflow with gratitude, joy, and peace in believing. Shalom! 🙏🏾

Bible Reading Summary

JEREMIAH 48:1–49:22
God pronounces judgment on Moab and several other nations because of their pride, idolatry, and wrongdoing. Despite their strength and wealth, they cannot escape His judgment. However, God also promises restoration for Moab in the future, showing that His judgment is not without mercy. Key Themes: God’s judgment, the danger of pride, accountability, and the possibility of restoration.

2 TIMOTHY 4:1–22
Paul charges Timothy to preach God’s Word faithfully, correct error, and remain patient even when people reject the truth. Paul reflects on his life, knowing his departure is near, and declares that he has fought the good fight and kept the faith. He trusts God to reward him and remain with him. Key Themes: Faithfulness in ministry, perseverance, standing for truth, finishing well, and trusting God through difficult times.

PSALM 95:1–96:13
These psalms call everyone to worship God joyfully through singing, thanksgiving, and praise. He is the great King, the Creator of all things, and the only One worthy of worship. They also warn against hardening our hearts when God speaks and declare that He will judge the world with righteousness and faithfulness. Key Themes: Worship, gratitude, obedience, God’s greatness, and His righteous judgment.

PROVERBS 26:9–12
These verses describe the harm caused by foolish behaviour and the danger of repeating mistakes without learning. They also warn against people who think they are wise when they are not. True wisdom requires humility, self-awareness, and a willingness to learn from correction. Key Themes: The consequences of foolishness, learning from mistakes, humility, and the danger of pride.

Final Reflection
These passages remind us to remain faithful to God, walk in humility, and worship Him with sincere hearts. Pride and foolishness can lead us into trouble, but obedience and a willingness to learn help us grow. Like Paul, let us remain committed to our faith and finish our journey with confidence in God.
