JULY 3 – DEVOTIONAL
The Power of Praise & Glory: Relationship Friday
📖 Acts 16:22–34
Paul and Silas were beaten, chained, and thrown into the innermost prison—not because they had done wrong, but because they faithfully obeyed God. Yet, at midnight, they chose to pray and sing praises to God. Their praise did not rise from comfortable circumstances; it flowed from a deep relationship with a faithful God. They knew His character had not changed, even though their circumstances had.
Their praise was rooted in gratitude, trust, and confidence that God was still worthy, regardless of what they faced. As they worshipped, heaven responded. The prison shook, chains were broken, doors were opened, and freedom came—not only for Paul and Silas, but for every prisoner. Even more remarkably, the jailer and his entire household encountered God’s saving grace and were baptized.
Beloved, serving the Lord and doing the right thing with a clear conscience may sometimes attract opposition, persecution, or unexpected trials. Yet, it is amazing how much difference our lives can make when praise and gratitude become the foundation of our relationship with Jesus rather than our feelings or circumstances. When we choose to magnify God’s faithfulness instead of our problems, our worship creates an atmosphere where God moves powerfully—not only in our lives but also in the lives of our family, friends, and everyone around us. Your praise may become someone else’s breakthrough, your gratitude someone else’s encouragement, and your faith someone else’s invitation to Christ.
If you still have breath in your lungs and relationship with Jesus this July 4th weekend, you still have a reason to praise God, no matter what may be going on in your life. May you and your family be encouraged to praise the Lord in every circumstance, knowing that the power of praise sustains our freedom, healing, hope, and can lead to lasting transformation of family, friends, and communities.
Have a blessed, joyful, and safe Independence Day weekend! Keep praising, keep trusting, and watch God move! Shalom!🙏🏾
Bible Reading Summary
📖 2 Kings 22:3–23:30 — Rediscovering God’s Word Brings Revival
King Josiah discovered the Book of the Law during the repair of the temple, and upon hearing God’s Word, he humbled himself in repentance. He led Judah in a national revival by removing idols, restoring true worship, renewing the covenant, and celebrating the Passover like never before. Josiah’s life demonstrates the transforming power of God’s Word when received with humility and obedience.
Key Theme: Genuine revival begins when God’s people rediscover His Word, respond with repentance, and commit to wholehearted obedience.
📖 Acts 21:37–22:16 — The Power of a Transformed Life and a Bold Testimony
Standing before an angry crowd, Paul courageously shared the story of his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. Rather than defending himself with anger, he testified of God’s grace, mercy, and transforming power. His life reminds us that no one is beyond God’s reach and that our personal testimony can become a powerful witness to His saving grace.
Key Theme: A transformed life and a bold testimony point others to Christ and display the life-changing power of the Gospel.
📖 Psalm 1:1–6 — The Blessing of Delighting in God’s Word
The psalm contrasts the righteous with the wicked, revealing that those who delight in God’s Word and meditate on it day and night are like trees planted by streams of water—fruitful, steadfast, and flourishing in every season. Their lives are firmly established because they are rooted in the Lord.
Key Theme: A life rooted in God’s Word is blessed, fruitful, stable, and secure, regardless of life’s circumstances.
📖 Proverbs 18:11–12 — Humility Leads to Honor
These verses remind us that wealth can create a false sense of security, while pride often precedes destruction. True security is found in God alone, and humility is the pathway that leads to honor and lasting favor.
Key Theme: Our confidence should rest in the Lord, for humility invites His honor while pride leads to downfall.
✨ Final Reflection:
Today’s readings remind us that God’s Word has the power to transform hearts, revive nations, and redirect lives. Like Josiah, may we respond to God’s Word with humility and obedience. Like Paul, may we boldly share the testimony of God’s transforming grace. Like the righteous in Psalm 1, may we remain deeply rooted in His Word, bearing fruit in every season. And may we continually walk in humility, knowing that our greatest security is found not in earthly possessions but in the faithful and unchanging character of our God. As we continue our Month of Praise with Gratitude & Glory, may our lives reflect wholehearted devotion, unwavering faith, and a testimony that brings glory to God. Amen!
