JULY 26 – DEVOTIONAL
The Power of Gratitude, Praise & Glory
“Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” — Psalm 107:8
As we come to the close of another month, let us pause to give God all the praise and glory He deserves. Before we look ahead to a new month, let us reflect on His faithfulness and thank Him for carrying us this far.
Let us thank Him for the greatest gift of all—salvation. Thank Him for the gift of life, a sound mind, peace, joy, His constant protection, and His daily provision. It takes a grateful heart to give thanks, and being alive today is reason enough to praise Him for His goodness.
Beloved, praise shifts our focus from what is lacking to the One who never fails. His goodness fights our battles—both visible and invisible. His goodness makes a way where there seems to be no way, brings miracles out of our messes, and perfects all that concerns us. As we end this month with thanksgiving, let our hearts overflow with praise, trusting that the God who has brought us this far will faithfully lead us into the next season.
Have a praise-filled Sunday! May you and your family be encouraged to continually pause and thank God for His goodness, celebrate His faithfulness, and enter the new month with hearts full of gratitude, joyful expectation, and unwavering confidence that His mercy and favor will continue to follow you. 📖 2 Chronicles 14:1–16:14 — Trusting God from Beginning to End
King Asa begins his reign by seeking the Lord, removing idols, and leading Judah into peace and victory. When a vast army comes against him, he cries out to God, who grants a miraculous victory. However, later in life Asa relies on human alliances instead of God and rejects godly correction. His story reminds us that finishing well is just as important as starting well.
Key Theme: Wholehearted trust and obedience to God bring lasting victory and strength.
📖 Romans 9:1–24 — God’s Mercy and Sovereign Purpose
Paul expresses his deep love for Israel while explaining that God’s promises are fulfilled according to His sovereign plan. Salvation is a gift of God’s mercy, not human effort, and He faithfully accomplishes His purposes for His glory.
Key Theme: God’s mercy is undeserved, His purposes are perfect, and His plans never fail.
📖 Psalm 19:1–14 — God’s Glory Revealed Through Creation and His Word
The heavens declare God’s glory, and His Word refreshes the soul, gives wisdom, and brings joy to the heart. David ends with a heartfelt prayer that his words and thoughts would be pleasing to the Lord.
Key Theme: God’s creation reveals His greatness, and His Word transforms our lives.
📖 Proverbs 20:1 — Walking in Wisdom and Self-Control
This proverb warns against anything that controls our lives and clouds our judgment. God calls us to live with wisdom, discernment, and self-control, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead our decisions.
Key Theme: A wise and disciplined life reflects God’s character.
✨ Final Reflection:
Today’s readings encourage us to seek the Lord wholeheartedly, trust His sovereign plan, delight in His life-giving Word, and walk in wisdom every day. As we continue our Month of Praise with Gratitude & Glory, may we remain faithful from beginning to end, knowing that the God who has sustained us will continue to guide, strengthen, and perfect all that concerns us.
