New Beginnings- God will make a way
Isaiah 43:19; Exodus 14:21–22
As we continue reflecting on this month’s theme, New Beginnings: Embracing Divine Change, we are reminded that one of the greatest assurances God gives His children is that He is able to make a way where there seems to be no way. Our God is not limited by impossibilities, human reasoning, or unfavorable circumstances. What appears to be a dead end to us is often the very place where God chooses to reveal His power, His faithfulness, and His glory.
The children of Israel experienced this truth when they found themselves trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea. Fear overwhelmed them because every visible escape route had disappeared. To the natural eye, they were surrounded by danger with no hope of survival. Yet God had already prepared a way that no human mind could have imagined. As Moses obeyed God’s instruction and stretched out his rod over the sea, the waters parted, and God’s people walked across on dry ground. The same sea that appeared to be an obstacle became the very pathway into their new beginning.
Beloved, many of us have stood before our own “Red Sea” at one point or another. It may be a financial burden, a family challenge, an unanswered prayer, a health concern, or uncertainty about the future. In those moments, it is easy to focus on the size of the problem instead of the greatness of our God. But Isaiah reminds us that God does not simply remove obstacles; He creates roads through wildernesses and causes rivers to flow in deserts. He brings direction where there is confusion, provision where there is lack, hope where there is despair, and life where everything appears dry and barren.
The beautiful truth about every new beginning is that it often starts where our own strength ends. God delights in doing what only He can do so that no one receives the glory except Him. His ways are higher than our ways, and His timing is always perfect. While we may not always understand how He will work, we can be confident that He is already working behind the scenes, preparing a future that reflects His goodness and His unfailing love.
Today, refuse to allow fear, doubt, or past disappointments to keep you from trusting the God who is doing a new thing. If He could part the Red Sea for Israel, He can certainly make a way through whatever stands before you. Your wilderness is not your destination; it is the place where God will reveal His presence, strengthen your faith, and lead you into the new season He has prepared for you.
May this day strengthen your confidence in the God who specializes in impossibilities. May every obstacle before you become an opportunity for Him to display His power. As you continue to trust Him, may He open doors that no one can shut, make rivers flow through every dry place in your life, and lead you into a new beginning that will cause your heart to overflow with praise.
Have a faith-filled day, and may the God who makes a way where there seems to be no way continually order your steps and establish His purpose for your life. Shalom! 🙏🏾
Bible Reading Summary
Ezra 1:1–2:70
In fulfillment of Jeremiah’s prophecy, God stirred the heart of King Cyrus of Persia to issue a decree allowing the Jewish exiles to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple. Cyrus returned the sacred temple articles that had been taken by Nebuchadnezzar and encouraged the people to contribute generously to the rebuilding effort. Led by Zerubbabel and Jeshua, thousands of Israelites from various families, priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, and temple servants made the journey back to Judah. Detailed records of the returning exiles demonstrated God’s faithfulness in preserving His people through captivity. Upon arriving in Jerusalem, many willingly gave offerings toward rebuilding the temple according to their ability before settling back into their ancestral towns, marking a hopeful new beginning for the nation.
Key Themes: God’s faithfulness to His promises, restoration after exile, God’s sovereignty over rulers, obedience to God’s call, and generous giving for God’s work.
1 Corinthians 1:18–2:5
Paul explains that the message of the cross appears foolish to those who reject God, but to those who believe it is the very power of God for salvation. God intentionally uses what the world considers weak and foolish to shame human wisdom, ensuring that no one can boast before Him. Paul reminds the Corinthians that they were not chosen because of worldly status or intelligence but because of God’s grace. When he first preached to them, he did not rely on impressive speech or human wisdom but simply proclaimed Jesus Christ and His crucifixion. His ministry depended on the power of the Holy Spirit so that their faith would rest on God’s power rather than human ability.
Key Themes: The power of the cross, God’s wisdom over human wisdom, humility, salvation by grace, and dependence on the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 27:7–14
David earnestly cries out for God’s mercy and longs for His presence. Though facing opposition and uncertainty, he chooses to seek the Lord wholeheartedly, trusting that God will never abandon him even if others do. He asks God to teach him the right path and protect him from his enemies. Despite his trials, David remains confident that he will experience God’s goodness in the land of the living. He concludes by encouraging believers to wait patiently on the Lord with courage, knowing that God strengthens those who place their hope in Him.
Key Themes: Seeking God’s presence, confidence in God’s faithfulness, trusting God during trials, divine guidance, and patient hope in the Lord.
Proverbs 20:22–23
These proverbs teach believers not to seek personal revenge but to wait for the Lord to bring justice. Rather than repaying evil with evil, God’s people are called to trust Him to act in His perfect timing. The passage also condemns dishonest business practices, reminding us that false weights and deceptive measures are offensive to the Lord. God delights in honesty, fairness, and integrity in every area of life, especially in our dealings with others.
Key Themes: Trusting God for justice, rejecting revenge, honesty in business, integrity, and waiting on God’s timing.
Final Reflection
These passages reveal God’s faithfulness to fulfill His promises and His desire for His people to trust Him completely. Just as God restored Israel from exile, He continues to restore those who respond to His call with faith and obedience. Paul reminds us that our confidence should never rest in human wisdom or ability but in the saving power of Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. David encourages us to seek God’s presence, remain courageous, and patiently wait for His guidance, while Proverbs calls us to live with integrity and leave justice in God’s hands. As we trust God’s wisdom above our own, walk in obedience, and remain faithful in every circumstance, we can be confident that He will accomplish His good purposes in our lives.
