New Beginnings—Recognizing the New Thing God Is Doing
Isaiah 43:19; John 10:27
One of the greatest mistakes in the Christian life is praying for a new season and then failing to recognize it when God brings it. In Isaiah 43:19, God not only promises to do a new thing, but He also asks an important question: “Shall ye not know it?” This tells us that God is always at work, and we must remain spiritually alert to discern His hand.
God often works in ways we do not expect. When the prophet Samuel went to anoint Israel’s next king, he almost overlooked David because he was looking at outward appearance rather than God’s choice. Likewise, many people missed Jesus because He did not come in the way they expected.
As we embrace this season of new beginnings, let us be careful not to become so attached to the familiar that we miss what God is unfolding before us. Sometimes the answer to our prayers comes disguised as a new opportunity, a divine interruption, an unexpected relationship, or even a difficult season that God is using to shape our character. When our hearts remain surrendered in prayer and obedience, we become sensitive to His voice and confident in His leading.
Beloved, ask God for eyes that see beyond the natural and ears that recognize His voice. He is always working for your good, even when you cannot yet see it. Trust Him enough to follow where He leads, knowing that every step of obedience brings you closer to the new beginning He has prepared for you.
May today find you walking with spiritual sensitivity, and may you recognize every divine opportunity God places before you. Have a Spirit-led Thursday, and may the Lord continually direct your steps into His perfect will as you remain a living testimony of His grace and faithfulness. Shalom! 🙏🏾

Ezra 3:1–4:23
After returning from exile, the Israelites gathered in Jerusalem and rebuilt the altar so they could worship God and offer sacrifices. They celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles and later laid the foundation of the new temple with joyful praise. While many rejoiced, some older people wept because they remembered the glory of the former temple. Soon, opposition arose as neighboring people tried to stop the rebuilding. When their offer to help was rejected, they discouraged the workers and sent false accusations to the Persian king, who ordered the work on the temple to stop for a time.

1 Corinthians 2:6–3:4
Paul explains that God’s wisdom is revealed through the Holy Spirit and cannot be understood by human wisdom alone. Believers have received the Spirit to help them understand God’s truth. However, Paul tells the Corinthians they are still spiritually immature because they are divided and arguing over human leaders instead of following Christ. He urges them to grow in their faith and live in unity, showing that true spiritual maturity is seen through humility, love, and dependence on God.

Psalm 28:1–9
David cries out to God for help, asking Him not to ignore his prayers. He trusts God to protect him from the wicked and praises Him because He hears and answers prayer. David declares that the Lord is his strength and shield, giving him confidence even during difficult times. He ends by praying for God’s people, asking the Lord to save, bless, guide, and care for them like a shepherd.

Proverbs 20:24–25
These proverbs remind us that God directs our steps, even when we do not fully understand His plans. They also warn against making careless promises to God without thinking them through. We should seek God’s guidance before making important decisions and be faithful to the commitments we make.

Final Reflection
These passages remind us to put God first in every area of our lives. Like the Israelites, we should worship Him even when facing opposition. Paul encourages us to grow spiritually and remain united in Christ rather than focusing on people. David shows us the importance of trusting God in prayer, knowing He hears and strengthens us. Proverbs teaches us to rely on God’s direction and to be thoughtful with our words and commitments. As we seek God daily, He will guide our steps, strengthen our faith, and help us remain faithful through every challenge.
