JULY 2 – DEVOTIONAL

Welcome to BOA’s Month of Praise With Gratitude & Glory! 🙌🏾

📖 Scripture Focus: Psalm 145:1–7

As we step into the seventh month of the year, we choose to begin with praise instead of pressure, gratitude instead of murmuring and complaining, and faith instead of fear, trusting wholeheartedly in the unfailing character of our faithful God. Throughout Scripture, we see a powerful connection between praise and the manifestation of God’s glory. Praise with gratitude prepares the atmosphere for God’s presence, perfection, power, victory, and divine intervention. Where sincere praise rises, God’s glory is revealed.

No matter what the first half of the year looked like, God’s character remains unchanged. He is faithful, good, merciful, and worthy of our trust. Gratitude reminds us of His faithfulness, while complaint blinds us to His goodness and delays our joy. Let every testimony, every challenge, and every unanswered prayer become another reason to trust the unfailing nature of God.

Throughout this month, we will reflect on the power of praise, the manifestation of God’s glory, and the life-changing impact of a grateful heart. Together, we will also examine the dangers of ingratitude, murmuring, and complaining, choosing instead to cultivate a lifestyle that honors God and attracts His presence.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your faithfulness. As we enter this new month, fill our hearts with genuine praise and gratitude. Let Your glory be revealed in every area of our lives as we choose to trust You completely. In Jesus’ name, Amen & Shalom!🙏

Bible Reading Summary

📖 2 Kings 20:1–22:2 — Humility, Prayer, and Leaving a Godly Legacy
King Hezekiah cried out to God in his sickness, and the Lord graciously extended his life by fifteen years, proving that God hears the prayers of His people. Yet, Hezekiah’s later pride reminds us that past victories do not exempt us from the need for continued humility. The passage concludes with young King Josiah, who chose to walk in the ways of the Lord from the beginning of his reign, becoming an example of godly leadership despite his age.
Key Theme: God responds to humble, believing prayer and desires His people to finish well, leaving a legacy of faith and obedience.

📖 Acts 21:18–36 — Faithfulness to God’s Assignment in the Midst of Opposition
Paul faithfully reported all that God had done among the Gentiles and willingly submitted to the counsel of the church leaders to preserve unity. Despite his efforts, he was falsely accused, violently attacked, and arrested. Yet even in the midst of persecution, God’s sovereign plan continued to unfold through Paul’s unwavering obedience.
Key Theme: Obedience to God’s calling may bring opposition, but His purpose will always prevail over the plans of men.

📖 Psalm 150:1–6 — Let Everything That Has Breath Praise the Lord
The final psalm is a powerful crescendo of praise, calling every living creature to worship God for His mighty acts and excellent greatness. Whether through singing, dancing, or instruments, every expression of praise points to the greatness of our King. As long as we have breath, we have a reason to glorify Him.
Key Theme: Praise is the joyful response of every believer to God’s greatness, faithfulness, and unfailing love.

📖 Proverbs 18:9–10 — Diligence and Dependence on God Bring Security
Scripture warns that laziness is destructive, placing the slothful alongside those who bring ruin. In contrast, the righteous find their greatest security not in themselves but in the powerful name of the Lord, which is a strong tower of refuge and protection.
Key Theme: God calls us to diligent living while placing our complete trust in Him as our ultimate refuge and defender.

Final Reflection:
Today’s readings beautifully reveal that God delights in humble hearts that seek Him, faithful servants who obey Him, and grateful people who continually praise Him. They also remind us that our greatest security is found not in our own strength but in the unchanging name and character of the Lord. As we continue this Month of Praise & Glory, may we choose prayer over pride, obedience over fear, praise over complaint, and trust over anxiety. May the Lord strengthen our faith, establish our steps, and cause His glory to be evident in every area of our lives. Amen!
