MAY 31 – DEVOTIONAL
Gratitude for Transformational Grace
Give thanks unto the Lord; call upon His name: make known His deeds among the people. Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him: talk ye of all His wondrous works.”
— Psalm 105:1-2 (KJV)
As we come to the close of this month, lets us lift our hearts in gratitude for God’s transformational grace. All through our lives and in this month, His grace sustained us, strengthened us, restored us, and carried us through every challenge and every victory.
Beloved. are not where we are today because of our own strength or perfection, but because of His unfailing mercy and abundant grace. Through His transformational grace, He continues to turn our ashes into beauty, our weaknesses into strength, our disappointments into testimonies, and our trials into triumphs.
Even in difficult seasons, God has been present and faithful. And if you are still standing today, it is because His grace has preserved you and His purpose for your life is still unfolding. As Ecclesiastes 9:4 reminds us, “To him that is joined to all the living there is hope.”
Today’s scripture reminds us not only to give thanks to the Lord, but also to make known His deeds among the people and speak of His wondrous works. Gratitude should never remain silent. When we testify of God’s goodness, we glorify Him, strengthen the faith of others, and encourage those who may be going through difficult times.
Whether this month brought blessings or battles, take a moment to thank God for His transforming work in your life. Lift your voice in praise, share your testimony, and encourage someone with the story of God’s goodness and grace. Let others know what the Lord has done for you, for every testimony is a reminder that God is still at work, transforming lives by His grace.

📖 2 SAMUEL 17:1–29 — God’s Wisdom Prevails
As Absalom seeks counsel on how to pursue David, God frustrates the advice that would have led to David’s destruction. Through His sovereign hand, David receives warning, protection, and provision in the wilderness. Even in a season of betrayal and uncertainty, God surrounds David with people who support and strengthen him.

📖 JOHN 19:23–42 — The Sacrifice That Changed Everything
John records the crucifixion of Jesus, the fulfillment of prophecy, His final words, and His death on the cross. What appeared to be a moment of defeat was actually God’s greatest victory for humanity. We also see the courage of Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus as they honor Jesus by preparing His body for burial.
✨ Key Theme: God can bring eternal victory through apparent loss.
The cross reminds us that God’s love is sacrificial, redeeming, and powerful enough to transform lives forever.
📖 PSALM 119:129–152 — The Wonder of God’s Word
The psalmist delights in God’s testimonies and praises the light, wisdom, and guidance found in His Word. He cries out to God for understanding, mercy, and deliverance while remaining confident in the truth and faithfulness of God’s commandments.

Those who treasure His Word find direction and hope in every season of life.
📖 PROVERBS 16:12–13 — Righteous Leadership
These proverbs teach that righteousness establishes authority and that truthful speech is pleasing to leaders. God values integrity, justice, and honesty in both leadership and daily life.

God honors those who lead and live with righteousness and truth.

Today’s readings remind us that God is always working behind the scenes on behalf of His people. He protects and guides us through difficult circumstances, demonstrated in David’s life. Through Christ’s sacrifice, He provides salvation and eternal hope. His Word continues to light our path, and His wisdom calls us to lives of integrity and truth. Whatever challenges you may face, trust that God’s purposes will prevail and His transformational grace will sustain you every step of the way.
