OCTOBER 14 – DEVOTIONAL

JOY & PEACE IN BELIEVING — WHEN GOD'S PROMISE SEEMS DELAYED, KEEP BELIEVING!

Hebrews 10:35–36 | Romans 4:20–21

“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”
— Hebrews 10:35–36, KJV

Beloved, one of the greatest tests of faith is trusting God when His promises seem delayed. It is easy to rejoice when prayers are answered quickly, but what happens when waiting becomes longer than expected? Does our joy disappear, or does our confidence in God’s faithfulness remain unshaken?

God promised Abraham a son, yet years passed, and his circumstances appeared increasingly impossible. Nevertheless, Romans 4:20–21 tells us that he remained strong in faith, fully persuaded that God was able to fulfill His promise. Abraham’s confidence rested not in his circumstances but in the faithfulness of the One who had spoken!

Beloved, waiting on God is not wasted time, and delayed answers do not mean forgotten promises. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Even in seasons of uncertainty, God is working, strengthening our faith, and teaching us to depend on Him.

Today, keep believing, remain obedient, and rest in His perfect timing.
May the Lord renew your strength, quiet every anxious thought, and fill your heart with overflowing joy and peace. May you and your family remain steadfast in faith and confident in His promises.

Have a blessed day! Keep trusting, keep believing, and remember—God’s timing is perfect, and His faithfulness never fails! Shalom!

Bible Reading Summary

Jeremiah 23:21–25:38
God condemns false prophets who claim to speak for Him but lead people away from the truth. He reminds His people that nothing is hidden from His sight. 2 Thessalonians 2:1–17
Paul warns believers not to be confused or frightened by false messages about the return of Christ. Paul encourages believers to stand firm in the truth they have been taught and reminds them of God’s love, salvation, and eternal comfort.
Key Themes: Christ’s return, truth, deception, spiritual discernment, salvation, perseverance, and God’s comfort.

Psalm 84:1–12
The psalmist expresses a deep longing to be in God’s presence, describing His dwelling place as beautiful and precious. Those who trust in God find strength even during difficult journeys. The psalm declares that God gives grace and honour to those who walk uprightly. It is better to be near God than to enjoy the pleasures of wickedness.

Proverbs 25:15

It encourages us to respond wisely, especially when dealing with difficult people or situations.
