Let Gratitude Lead the Way
📖 Psalm 100:4–5 | Romans 15:13
On this first day of October, we choose to enter with thanksgiving to God—for who He is, for all He has done, and for the precious gift of life! We are still breathing, still living, and still believing because His grace has sustained us. As we remember those whose lives ended far too soon, we receive each new day with humility and gratitude. We do not take the gift of being here for granted!
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
— Psalm 100:4–5, KJV
Therefore, we consciously begin this month—and everything we do—with gratitude. Before the plans, the requests, and the responsibilities, we pause to say, “Thank You, Father!” In His presence is fullness of joy, and as we trust Him, His peace settles our hearts. The One who has brought us this far remains faithful to carry us forward!
Beloved, starting with thanksgiving and praise reminds your heart that you are entering this month in the care of a faithful God. Scripture describes Him as the One who inhabits the praises of Israel (Psalm 22:3). Praise turns our attention toward His presence and power, giving us courage to take the next step even when we cannot see the whole way.
When Israel asked who should go first into battle, the Lord answered, “Judah shall go up first” (Judges 20:18). Judah’s name is associated with praise—a beautiful reminder to let praise lead the way! We can begin with worship and keep trusting God through whatever lies ahead.
With gratitude, we walk boldly into our month of Joy & Peace in Believing! Our confidence rests in the finished work of Christ. The Saviour who brings beauty from ashes fills believing hearts with joy, peace, and overflowing hope through the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).
May God’s goodness and mercy follow you and your family throughout October and the remaining ember months. May His peace guard your hearts, His joy strengthen you, and His wisdom guide every decision. May your home be filled with love and your days reveal fresh evidence of His sustaining grace!
Have a joyful new month! May you and your family be encouraged to begin with thanksgiving, continue in faith, and make room each day for praise. Still breathing. Still believing. Still held by grace! Shalom!🙏🏽
Isaiah 62:6–65:25
God promises to watch over Jerusalem and restore His people. Isaiah remembers God’s past goodness but also acknowledges their rebellion and the consequences of sin. Yet God does not abandon them. He promises mercy, restoration, and a new creation where there will be joy, peace, righteousness, and long life. God will answer His people before they even call.
Key Themes: Restoration, God’s faithfulness, repentance, mercy, new creation, peace, joy, and hope.
Philippians 2:19–3:3
Paul speaks warmly about Timothy, describing him as someone who genuinely cares for believers and faithfully serves Christ. He also mentions Epaphroditus, a trusted co-worker who became seriously ill but recovered. Paul encourages the church to honour people who faithfully serve. He warns believers against placing confidence in religious practices and reminds them that true worship comes through Christ.
Key Themes: Faithful service, genuine care, Christian character, honour, perseverance, true worship, and confidence in Christ.
Psalm 73:1–28
Asaph struggles because he sees wicked people prosper while good people suffer. He almost loses faith because life seems unfair. But when he enters God’s presence, his perspective changes. He understands that earthly success is temporary and that God remains his strength and portion. He concludes that being close to God is better than anything the world can offer.
Key Themes: Trusting God, the problem of suffering, changing perspective, God’s presence, eternal hope, and contentment in God.
Proverbs 24:13–14
These verses compare wisdom to honey, something sweet and beneficial. In the same way that honey is good for the body, wisdom brings goodness to our lives. The passage encourages us to seek wisdom because it gives us hope for the future. When we gain godly wisdom, we can face life with greater understanding and confidence.
Key Themes: Wisdom, understanding, sweetness, hope, the future, and godly knowledge.
Final Reflection
Today’s passages remind us that God is working even when we cannot see the full picture. Isaiah shows us that failure and rebellion do not cancel God’s ability to restore. Psalm 73 reminds us that difficult circumstances can change our perspective, especially when we draw near to God. Philippians challenges us to serve faithfully and keep Christ at the centre, while Proverbs encourages us to pursue wisdom. When life seems confusing or unfair, we can remain close to God, trusting His goodness and looking forward with hope.
