SEPTEMBER 17 – DEVOTIONAL
GRATITUDE FOR BEAUTY FOR ASHES — TRANSFORMED TO ARISE & REBUILD
Psalm 103:1–5 | Psalm 107:8 | Isaiah 61:3–4 | Isaiah 58:12
On this BOA anniversary day, we pause to call our souls to bless the Lord and forget not His benefits! We praise Him for His goodness and His marvelous works. We thank Him for birthing Beauty For Our Ashes Christian Network out of a difficult season and for how far He has brought us—from darkness into His marvelous light, with beautiful evidence of transformation.
Beloved, today we celebrate the fruit of His restoring grace: orphans and homeless people encouraged and supported, souls won to Christ, weary hearts strengthened through the sharing of the gospel, and lives experiencing restoration. The beauty God brought from our ashes is becoming hope for others. Through His grace, we are arising to rebuild, repair broken places, and nurture faith for generations to come!
We shall continue to express our gratitude, trusting that the best is yet to come! We thank God for generations of agents of transformation—reformers, restorers, and rebuilders—emerging through BOA. In faith, we declare that the generations growing with us and coming after us shall become repairers of broken walls and restorers of communities, reflecting Isaiah 61:3–4 and Isaiah 58:12. The Nehemiahs, Josephs, Esthers, and Deborahs of our time are being strengthened and transformed to serve with courage, restore hope, and rebuild! Father, we thank You for the fruit we see today and the generations who will flourish tomorrow!
May you and your family be encouraged as you remember His goodness. May gratitude fill your hearts, and may the beauty He brings from your ashes bear lasting fruit in the lives of others. Happy Anniversary, BOA family—to God be all the glory! 🙌🏾
Bible Reading Summary
Isaiah 25:1–28:13
Isaiah praises God for His faithfulness and power. He describes God as a refuge for the poor, a shelter from trouble, and the One who will one day destroy death and remove sorrow. God promises a great feast for His people and victory over their enemies. However, Isaiah also warns Israel and its leaders about pride, drunkenness, injustice, and failure to listen to God’s instruction. The passage shows that God brings comfort to those who trust Him while correcting those who reject His ways.

Galatians 3:10–22
Paul explains that relying on the law for righteousness places people under a curse because no one can perfectly keep it. Christ redeemed us from that curse by becoming a curse for us. God’s promise to Abraham came before the law and was fulfilled through Christ. The law was given later to reveal sin and guide people until Christ came. Therefore, the law cannot replace God’s promise or give salvation. God’s blessing comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not through human efforts.

Psalm 61:1–8
David cries out to God from a place of weakness and asks Him to hear his prayer. He describes God as a strong tower and a safe refuge. David longs to remain close to God and under His protection. He remembers God’s faithfulness and asks that his life and leadership be preserved. The psalm ends with a commitment to praise God continually and fulfil his vows. David’s prayer shows that even when we feel far from strength, God remains our secure place.

Proverbs 23:17–18
These verses encourage us not to envy sinners or admire their lifestyle. Instead, we are told to continue fearing the Lord and remain faithful to Him. Wrongdoing may sometimes appear attractive or successful, but its temporary appearance should not distract us from God’s ways. The passage reminds us that there is a future and a reward for those who remain faithful. We should therefore focus on God’s promises rather than comparing our lives with people who choose ungodly paths.

Final Reflection
These passages remind us that God is our refuge, our salvation, and our hope. Isaiah shows that God can bring comfort and victory even in difficult times. Galatians reminds us that our relationship with God is based on faith in Christ, not our ability to earn His favour. Psalm 61 encourages us to run to God when we are weak, while Proverbs teaches us not to envy those who reject God’s ways.
