SEPTEMBER 14 – DEVOTIONAL

Isaiah 15:1–18:7

Isaiah gives messages of judgment concerning Moab, Damascus, Israel, and the nations around them. Moab experiences great sorrow and destruction, showing the consequences of pride and rebellion. Israel is also warned because the people have forgotten God and trusted in human strength and foreign alliances. Yet throughout these warnings, God remains in control of every nation. The passage ultimately points to a time when people will recognise God’s authority and bring their offerings to Him.

Galatians 1:1–24

Paul strongly defends the Gospel he preaches, explaining that it did not come from human beings but through Jesus Christ and God the Father. He warns the Galatians not to accept any different gospel, even if it comes from an angel. Paul reminds them of his former life when he persecuted the church, but God graciously called him and transformed his life. His testimony shows that God’s grace can completely change a person and give them a new purpose.

Psalm 58:1–11

David speaks against corrupt leaders who practise injustice and refuse to speak truthfully. He asks God to bring justice and stop those who use their power to harm others. David recognises that wickedness may seem powerful for a time, but God is the righteous Judge who sees everything. The psalm ends with confidence that God’s justice will ultimately prevail and that people will recognise that righteousness is rewarded and God truly judges the earth.

Proverbs 23:12

This short proverb encourages us to apply ourselves to instruction and open our hearts to knowledge. It reminds us that wisdom requires willingness to learn, listen, and accept correction. Growth does not happen when we assume we already know everything. We become wiser when we remain teachable and allow godly instruction to shape our decisions and character.

Final Reflection

Today’s passages remind us that God’s truth must remain our foundation, even when the world offers other voices and alternatives. Isaiah shows that nations and human powers are under God’s authority, while Galatians reminds us to hold firmly to the true Gospel and recognise the transforming power of God’s grace. Psalm 58 encourages us to trust God when we see injustice, knowing that He is the righteous Judge. Proverbs calls us to remain humble and teachable.

The simple lesson is this: Hold firmly to God’s truth, remain teachable, trust His justice, and allow His grace to transform your life and purpose.
