SEPTEMBER 6 – DEVOTIONAL
GRATITUDE FOR THE BEAUTY IN YOUR ASHES
“O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things…”
— Psalm 98:1 KJV
Gratitude becomes a new song when we remember what God has brought us through. He is able to turn ashes into beauty, mourning into joy, and painful seasons into testimonies of His faithfulness. What once looked like an ending can become the beginning of transformation in His hands.
Beloved, as you enter this ninth month, thank God not only for what He has done, but also for the beauty He is still bringing out of every difficult place. His mercies are new every morning, His goodness surrounds you, and His grace is working in your life and family.
May your thanksgiving become a declaration that God is faithful, your praise become strength for the journey, and your testimony encourage someone else to arise and shine.
Have a thankful and blessed Sunday. May you and your family be encouraged to sing a new song of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and transforming power. Shalom!
Bible Reading Summary
Song of Solomon 1:1–4:16
The Song of Solomon celebrates the beauty of love, affection, attraction, and commitment between a bride and groom. 2 Corinthians 8:16–24
Paul commends Titus for his sincere concern for the Corinthian believers and his willingness to help with the collection for Christians in need. Paul is careful to ensure that the financial gift is handled honestly and transparently, avoiding any suspicion or criticism. He encourages the Corinthians to demonstrate their love and generosity openly, showing that Christian giving should be trustworthy, willing, and motivated by genuine concern.

Psalm 50:1–23
God calls His people before Him and reminds them that He is the righteous Judge and Lord over all creation. He explains that He does not need their sacrifices because everything already belongs to Him. What God truly desires is thanksgiving, obedience, and a sincere relationship with Him. He also warns those who speak about His commands while continuing to live in sin. The psalm ends by showing that those who honour God through thanksgiving and right living will experience His salvation.

Proverbs 22:22–23
These verses warn against taking advantage of poor and vulnerable people simply because they have little power to defend themselves. God sees injustice and promises to defend those who are oppressed. The passage reminds us that our treatment of others matters deeply to God. We should never use someone’s weakness or poverty for personal gain. Instead, we are called to show fairness, compassion, and justice.

Final Reflection
Today’s passages remind us that God cares about both our relationships and the condition of our hearts. Song of Solomon celebrates love that is genuine, respectful, and committed. Paul shows us that generosity should be accompanied by integrity and accountability. Psalm 50 reminds us that God is not looking for empty religious actions but for thankful hearts and obedient lives. Proverbs challenges us to treat vulnerable people with dignity and justice.
The simple lesson is this: Love sincerely, give generously, worship genuinely, and treat others justly. God is interested not only in what we do, but in the heart and character behind what we do.
OUTREACH GRATITUDE ANNOUNCEMENT
I sincerely thank everyone who supported this year’s anniversary outreach yesterday, as well as those who have supported throughout the year with your prayers, presence, and financial contributions.
Every gift, no matter how small, has helped BOA demonstrate the love of Jesus to the broken and hurting while continuing to spread the Gospel. There is still an opportunity to support the orphans in Ghana if you feel led to be part of this year’s anniversary kindness.
May the Lord continue to bless you and increase you more and more as you remember the poor and needy. May the promises of Psalm 41:1–3 always be your portion.
