Scripture: Psalm 107:31–32
As we gather as one Body of Christ on this last Sunday of the month, let us pause and reflect on the faithfulness of God throughout our journey of faith. Every day we have lived, every challenge we have overcome, and every blessing we have received is a testimony of His goodness and mercy. The gift of life itself is reason enough to lift our hearts in thanksgiving and praise.
Beloved, the psalmist reminds us, “Oh, that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” Our gratitude should not remain hidden in our hearts but be expressed through joyful praise and heartfelt thanksgiving. As we testify of God’s faithfulness, we encourage one another, strengthen one another’s faith, and declare that our God is still working miracles today.
As this month comes to a close, let us choose gratitude over complaints and praise over worry, knowing that the same God who has sustained us by His goodness and mercy will continue to lead us into the days ahead.
Have a grateful and praiseful Sunday! May you and your family continue to walk in God’s unfailing love, enjoy His divine protection, experience His abundant peace and joy, and overflow with His goodness and mercy. As we step into a new month, may the Lord perfect all that concerns you, order your steps, open new doors of favor, and surround you with His grace. May His goodness and mercy continue to follow you all the days of your life, in Jesus’ mighty name. Shalom & Amen!🙏🏾
📖 2 Kings 13:1–14:29 — God’s Mercy Calls Us to Return to Him
These chapters recount the reigns of several kings of Israel and Judah, revealing a repeated cycle of disobedience, oppression, repentance, and God’s mercy. Although Israel continued in sin, the Lord compassionately heard their cries and delivered them because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We also witness the final days and death of Elisha, whose ministry leaves a lasting testimony of God’s power, even after his death. King Joash of Judah also experiences God’s blessing as he walks in obedience, though not wholeheartedly.
Key Theme: God’s mercy endures even when we fail, but His desire is for wholehearted obedience and a life fully surrendered to Him.
📖 Acts 18:23–19:12 — The Holy Spirit Empowers Effective Ministry
Paul begins his third missionary journey, strengthening believers and teaching the Word of God. Apollos, though passionate and knowledgeable, humbly receives further instruction from Priscilla and Aquila, becoming even more effective in ministry. In Ephesus, Paul ministers to disciples who receive the Holy Spirit, and God confirms the Gospel through extraordinary miracles performed by His hand.
Key Theme: Spiritual growth requires humility, sound teaching, and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit to fulfill God’s purposes.
📖 Psalm 146:1–10 — Put Your Hope in the Lord Alone
The psalmist calls us to continually praise the Lord and warns against placing our confidence in human leaders, whose strength and plans eventually fail. Instead, we are encouraged to trust in the Lord, our faithful Creator, who upholds the oppressed, provides for the needy, heals the brokenhearted, and reigns forever. His faithfulness never changes.
Key Theme: True hope, security, and lasting joy are found only in the Lord, who remains faithful throughout every generation.
📖 Proverbs 18:2–3 — Pride Rejects Wisdom
These verses contrast the foolish person, who is only interested in expressing personal opinions rather than gaining understanding, with the consequences that accompany wickedness. Pride closes the heart to instruction, while humility welcomes wisdom and honor.
Key Theme: A teachable and humble heart leads to wisdom, while pride opens the door to shame and destruction.
✨ Final Reflection:
Today’s readings remind us that God’s mercy continually invites us back to Him, even after seasons of failure. He desires wholehearted obedience, empowers His people through the Holy Spirit, and calls us to place our complete trust in Him rather than in human strength. As we walk with the Lord today, may we remain humble, teachable, and faithful, allowing His Word and Spirit to transform our lives. May our hope remain anchored in the Lord, whose goodness and mercy endure forever. Amen!
