JUNE 26 – DEVOTIONAL
Relationship Friday: Journey of Faith, Goodness & Mercy
As we get ready to round off this month of June, we are reminded that a life marked by faith, goodness, and mercy is only possible through a relationship with Jesus. Hebrews 12:2 calls us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus—the Author and Finisher of our faith. He is the very center of our lives and the source of every lasting transformation.
In Hebrews 11:25–31, we see that the heroes of faith had little or no physical evidence of God’s promises, yet they trusted His character. They chose obedience over comfort, believed His Word, and confidently declared His promises, knowing God would fulfill them—even for generations after them. The Lord established His promises through their faith-filled lives, proving that He is always faithful to His Word.
Beloved, it is never too late to give Jesus the center place in your life and relationships. As you abide in Him, His nature will continue to produce the fruit of goodness and mercy in you, bringing hope, healing, and a lasting impact on everyone around you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for being the Author and Finisher of my faith. Help me to keep You at the center of my life and relationships, so that Your goodness and mercy will overflow through me and become a blessing to others. Amen.
Have a faith-filled weekend! May you and your family be encouraged to keep Jesus at the center of your relationship with Him and with one another. As you continue on the Journey of Faith, Goodness, and Mercy, may your lives bear lasting fruit that glorifies God, strengthens others, and leaves a legacy of faith for generations to come. Shalom!
Bible Reading Summary
📖 2 Kings 9:14–10:31 — Zeal Must Be Accompanied by Wholehearted Obedience
Jehu is anointed and boldly carries out God’s judgment against the house of Ahab, fulfilling the prophecies spoken through Elijah. He removes Baal worship from Israel, demonstrating great zeal for God’s commands. However, despite his outward accomplishments, Jehu fails to fully obey the Lord, continuing in the sins of Jeroboam by allowing idol worship to remain. His life reminds us that God desires not only passionate service but also complete obedience and wholehearted devotion.
Key Theme: God honors obedience that flows from a heart fully committed to Him, not merely outward acts of zeal.
📖 Acts 17:1–34 — Proclaiming the Gospel with Boldness and Wisdom
Paul continues his missionary journey, preaching Christ in Thessalonica, Berea, and Athens. While some reject the Gospel, many receive it with eager hearts, carefully searching the Scriptures daily to confirm the truth. In Athens, Paul wisely uses the people’s own culture as a bridge to introduce them to the “Unknown God,” revealing Jesus Christ as the risen Savior. His example teaches us to boldly share our faith with wisdom, love, and sensitivity to those around us.
Key Theme: God calls us to faithfully proclaim the Gospel, trusting Him to prepare hearts to receive His truth.
📖 Psalm 144:1–15 — The Lord Is Our Strength and Our Blessing
David praises God as his Rock, Defender, and Deliverer, acknowledging that every victory comes from the Lord. He prays for God’s protection, provision, and blessing upon the nation, its families, and future generations. David concludes by declaring that truly blessed are the people whose God is the Lord.
Key Theme: Lasting security, joy, and blessing are found when we place our trust in God alone.
📖 Proverbs 17:27–28 — Wisdom Is Displayed Through Self-Control
These verses remind us that wise people exercise restraint in their speech and remain calm even in difficult situations. Sometimes the greatest display of wisdom is knowing when to speak and when to remain silent. Our words should reflect God’s wisdom, bringing peace rather than strife.
Key Theme: Godly wisdom is revealed through thoughtful words, self-control, and a peaceful spirit.
✨ Final Reflection:
Today’s readings remind us that God is looking for hearts that are fully devoted to Him. Jehu’s life teaches us that zeal without complete obedience falls short of God’s desire. Paul demonstrates the importance of boldly and wisely sharing the Gospel wherever God sends us, while David reminds us that every victory and blessing come from the Lord alone. Proverbs encourages us to reflect God’s wisdom through self-control and gracious speech. As we walk with the Lord today, may we serve Him wholeheartedly, boldly proclaim His truth, trust Him as our strength, and allow our words to reflect His goodness and mercy. Amen! 🙏🏾
