JUNE 16 – DEVOTIONAL

The Journey of Faith, Goodness, and Mercy

📖 Hebrews 11:7 reveals that Noah acted on God’s word long before he saw any physical evidence of what was coming. By faith, he obeyed, built the ark, and trusted God’s wisdom above what his eyes could see. What seemed unreasonable to others became the pathway to God’s goodness, protection, and mercy for Noah and his family.

Beloved, faith is not denying reality; it is choosing to trust God’s promises even when the evidence has not yet appeared. The same God who guided Noah through uncertainty is still leading His people today. Your faith may feel small, but when placed in God’s hands, it becomes a bridge to His goodness and mercy. Keep moving forward, keep trusting, and keep expecting His faithfulness.

✨ Have a faith-filled day, and may you and your family experience the goodness, mercy, favor, protection, and loving guidance of the Lord in every step of your journey. May what begins with faith end with testimonies of His abundant grace. 🙏🏾

Bible Reading Summary

📖 1 Kings 15:25–17:24 — God Sustains Those Who Trust Him
These chapters reveal a time of increasing spiritual decline in Israel. Several kings continue in disobedience and lead the people further away from God. In the midst of this darkness, God raises up Elijah the prophet to boldly proclaim His truth. When a severe drought comes upon the land, God miraculously provides for Elijah through ravens and later through a widow whose small supply of flour and oil never runs out. God’s power is displayed even further when He restores the widow’s son to life. Through every challenge, God proves Himself to be faithful, powerful, and compassionate toward those who trust Him.
Key Theme: God is able to sustain, provide for, and care for His people even in the most difficult circumstances.

📖 Acts 10:24–48 — God’s Grace Reaches Beyond Every Barrier
Peter arrives at the home of Cornelius and discovers that God is doing something far greater than he expected. As Peter shares the message of Jesus, the Holy Spirit falls upon everyone listening, including Gentiles who had previously been considered outsiders. God makes it clear that His love, salvation, and acceptance are available to all who believe. What began as two separate visions becomes a powerful demonstration of God’s desire to bring people from every background into His family.
Key Theme: God’s grace is for everyone, and He welcomes all who come to Him in faith.

📖 Psalm 134:1–3 — A Lifestyle of Worship and Blessing
This brief psalm calls God’s servants to continually bless and worship the Lord. Even during the night watches, they are encouraged to lift their hands in praise and honor the One who created heaven and earth. The psalm concludes with a blessing, reminding us that the God we worship is also the God who blesses His people.
Key Theme: Worship keeps our hearts focused on God and positions us to receive His blessing and encouragement.

📖 Proverbs 17:9–11 — Choosing Love, Peace, and Wisdom
These proverbs teach the importance of covering offenses with love rather than continually revisiting them. A person who seeks reconciliation strengthens relationships, while one who stirs up conflict creates division. The passage also warns against rebellion and stubbornness, encouraging us instead to embrace wisdom and correction.
Key Theme: Love, humility, and wisdom promote peace and strengthen relationships.

Final Reflection:
Today’s readings remind us that God remains faithful regardless of what is happening around us. He provides for His people in times of need, extends His grace beyond human limitations, delights in the worship of His children, and calls us to walk in love and wisdom. Whether we are facing uncertainty, waiting on God’s provision, or learning to extend grace to others, we can trust that He is actively at work. May we follow Him with willing hearts, worship Him with gratitude, and reflect His love in our relationships. As we do, we will discover that His goodness and mercy continue to sustain us every step of the way. Amen! 🙏🏾
