MAY 29 – DEVOTIONAL

Gratitude for Transformational Grace

📖 2 Samuel 7:18–22; Judges 11:1–11
Focus Scripture: “Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?” — 2 Samuel 7:18

As we conclude this 31-day journey, we find David overwhelmed with gratitude for the transformational grace of God in his life and lineage. Reflecting on all God had done, David humbly acknowledged that it was not his strength, status, or achievements that brought him this far—it was God’s grace.

Throughout this month, we have seen this same transformational grace at work throughout Scripture. Grace did not merely save people; it transformed them. We have seen murderers become messengers, the weak become warriors, the broken become blessed, and the rejected become restored. Each story affirms Paul’s powerful declaration: “But by the grace of God I am what I am” (1 Corinthians 15:10).

Judges 11:1–11 —Reveals that Jephthah’s story is no different. Rejected by the very people who should have cared for him, he refused to allow their actions to determine his future. Instead, he relied on God’s transformational grace. His relationship with God transformed him into a better man than those who abandoned him. Rather than allowing rejection to produce bitterness, he broke the evil cycle and became the very leader his people needed. Praise God!!

Beloved, no matter your past, your pain, or the opinions of others, God’s transformational grace can still shape your destiny. Like David and all the other people we have studied through this month. And may our relationship with the Lord continue to lead us in that revelation, the point in life where we can confidently stand in awe of God’s goodness and recognize how far His grace has brought us.
Final Reflection: The same grace that saved you is still transforming you. Trust Him to complete the good work He has begun.

Have a gracious end of the month! May you and your family be encouraged to keep embracing God’s transformational grace, allowing Him to transform every challenge into purpose, every setback into a testimony, and every season into an opportunity to fulfill your God-given destiny.Shalom!!!

Bible Readings Summary

📖 2 Samuel 14:1–15:22 — Reconciliation, Unresolved Issues & Loyalty in Difficult Times

Joab orchestrates Absalom’s return to Jerusalem, leading to a partial reconciliation between David and his son. However, unresolved heart issues and a lack of true restoration eventually give rise to rebellion. Absalom gradually wins the hearts of the people and attempts to overthrow his father’s kingdom. As David flees Jerusalem, we also witness the faithfulness and loyalty of those who choose to stand with him during adversity. This passage reminds us that unresolved wounds can grow into greater problems, but godly loyalty and humility remain invaluable during seasons of testing.
